Better options around here
Good looking resort and quite expansive grounds. However very short on pool and beach lounge chairs so as hotel guests you don't really have room to sit.
Secondly cove looks good but is very rocky and lots of pebbles making it difficult to enjoy the Hawaii beach experience of toes in sand and waves. We had to wear flip flops the entire time in the small rocky cove. If paddle boarding it's fine but again not a true beach.
Lots of great options nearby. We visited Mauna Kea and their beach is amazing so is westin on hapuna beach. All in same area.
Finally and most disappointing is the spotty service. Restaurant staff was friendly, but surf shack, concierge, pool and beach staff were clearly having a bad day. They were taking it out on us with their attitude and sullen responses on how nothing was available and a no to almost every question before we finish the sentence.
Disappointing stay. Only saving grace was our room and balcony has a good view. Two more days here and looking for options to spend as much time away as possible which is a pity having paid for a resort to relax at.

You will NOT regret staying here
This is hands down one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at. They surprised us with upgraded rooms that had partial ocean views, they supplied our room with fresh ice-cold water every day, and the hotel just had wonderful decor and an amazing vibe. If you are comparing hotels on the Big Island, stay here. You will not regret it.

Great service beautiful environment
I had a lovely time everything was perfect! I wanted to comment on the fabulous service by Pete Alles who is the general manager. I lost and item on the property and he was highly instrumental in righting the problem and I felt totally satisfied with the outcome!
Thanks for the amazing and attentive service!

Relax
Beautiful property and the staff could not have been more helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The turn down service was great and their attention to detail was next level.

Zen!
Incredible experience - amazing Kid's Club! Perfect spot for families. We stayed in connecting rooms with my family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) + grandmother. It was such a great resort - the sunset upon arrival set the tone for the whole stay. So peaceful!

Aloha Spirit in a Gorgeous Resort.
This is our favorite resort in Hawaii. Everything was easy, gorgeous, and welcoming. Aloha spirit at its very best. Out of this world natural setting, animal sightings, and snorkeling. Perfect experience for every person in our party of 8 ranging from 4 to 72 years old.

Great Spot
Perfect sized property. Grounds are beautiful. Great food and beverage options. Room was very nice and good size. The little cafe/shop is always great and the employees are exceptional. Only negative was the view of the parking lot from the room! We love coming to Mauna Lani.

Perfection on the Big Island
My husband and I just returned from 10 nights at Mauna Lani and we can't wait to return. Everything was a 10/10. We added the Francis Brown Club experience on to our reservation and that made the trip feel like coming home. This was our 6th trip to Hawaii and our second trip to the Big Island having previously stayed at the Four Seasons Hualalai. Having read reviews of Mauna Lani, I suggested we try it and we are so glad we did! My husband and I are beach people; we have a pool at home so when we go away, we love sitting at the beach most days and swimming in the ocean. Mauna Lani's beach is right up there with the best beaches for that! (We'd put it on par with Grand Cayman and the beach at Sandy Lane, Barbados.) Service on the beach was friendly and attentive. We rented a huele (sitting area) our first full day at the resort and I loved it as I prefer the shade for reading. Manny provided fantastic service! The resort itself is stunning; the open lobby is bustling with bird sounds when you open your door but don't worry about bird poo - the place is immaculate. I ran most mornings after watching the beautiful sunrise with my latte from the market - they open at 5:30 and make they best coffee beverages. Maurice with the front desk staff will great you with a smile and a water before heading out for exercise. The breakfast in the Francis Brown Club was fantastic; hot things, fruit, yogurt, granola, gluten free and regular treats . . . Everything! Darlene will great you and make you feel at home right away. An espresso based coffee machine is always available for regular and decaf drinks - what a great touch having decaf! My husband is a very good golfer and enjoyed both north and south courses. He didn't even leave the resort to play Mauna Kea, he was so happy at "home". My spa treatment, the signature body polish, was so relaxing - I highly recommend it. We ate at the bar in CanoeHouse four nights and treated family visiting at another resort to dinner the fifth night - the food is so delicious and the staff, many who have been there for decades, treated us like family. Make sure you take advantage of all that the Francis Brown Club has to offer; cookies straight from the oven, sunset pau Hana (happy hour and apps), all the delicious wines and cocktail of the day. Did I mention the Pantry? Candy, sweets, dried fruits, hummus, sandwiches - grab and gos for all day! Malia, Kapuana and the entire FBC staff will know you by name and fine tune your experience. Don't skimp - book an oceanfront room if you can - waking up and going to sleep to that view - it grounded us. Mahalo to Mauna Lani by Auberge - our new favorite place! (How could I forget - so much wildlife right on the resort, including turtles and monk seals! And make sure to walk the trail - the staff will give you a map. There's one to the left that's long and it's a shorter walk to the right toward the Fairmont - usually turtles that way!)

beautiful location, wonderful accommodations, staff and food. We have been many times over the last 25 years and the Mauna Lani never disappoints. Thumbs up to Auberge Resorts for enhancing and bringing out the beauty of this fantastic property. Mahalo to Team Mauna Lani!

No hesitation in recommending this hotel for my own clients.
I could not have more amazing things to say about this amazing property. As a luxury travel advisor, I'm a damn picky guy, and I couldn't find a single thing to nit-pick about Mauna Lani. From the food, to the staff, service, and incredible activities, I was beyond impressed.

Perfect family vacation
Back for our fourth time and Mauna Lani cant be beat! The value that they include with the resort fee really makes for an amazing vacation. We highly recommend Canoehouse and really enjoyed the live music and dinner at the surf shack this year.

Lovely Hotel but not up to Auberge standards
Lovely hotel but not 5 stars. This hotel does not live up to the Auberge brand for service and amenities. Bathroom sinks, shower needed refurbishing and we had a little insect problem.Spa is just a locker room and treatment rooms, no amenities like steam, sauna, jacuzzi, not sure how they can justify what they are charging. I would go to Fairmont spa if you are staying there. Canoe house was so so with ridiculous prices and breakfasts were good but service was slow even with buffet. All in all it was a lovely trip, people were very nice but I expected a bit more from the brand.

Delightful Staycation
We loved the location of the Mauna Lani Auberge! Driving into the resort gave us a feeling of peace and calm as there was not a lot of cars traversing the roadway as there normally are in a typical resort setting. My husband and I knew that we would definitely be in a relaxed state. The room we were assigned was perfectly situated "at the point" as described by the front desk clerk who accompanied us to the floor we were located on. Our room offered spectacular ocean views from the generously sized lanai. The layout of the room offered spacious and comfortable accommodations and was tastefully decorated and was very clean. We also appreciated that our room was made available for an earlier check-in. The staff that we interacted with were friendly and accommodating and we felt very welcomed! As we only stayed for one night, we were not able to take full advantage or all the amenities and services offered. We can't say enough great things about our dining experience at the Canoe House. The main purpose of our stay was to celebrate our 43rd Wedding Anniversary! Chef Rhoda's cuisine was so delicious and so fitting of her new title as Season 23 Top Chef winner! We were so delighted that we had a chance to dine on her cuisine, meet and to chat with her as well! We can't wait to return for another stay! Thank you so much for a wonderful 5-Star experience!!!

Mauna Lani: THE Place to Stay
Mauna Lani is superb. When you book your stay on the Big Island, book it for Mauna Lani. We stayed for a week and used the resort as our home base as we drove around the Big Island, exploring the mind-boggling diversity of its scenery and environment, and the quality of its culinary offerings. We intend to return, and when we do, we intend to stay again at Mauna Lani.
